Planet Eclipse has long been known as a market leader in high-end paintball markers and accessories. Our aim has always been set high; to produce the very best paintball equipment possible. Unashamedly, our products to date have always been aimed at the higher-end of the paintball market. They are feature- laden, finished to the very highest standard and immaculately prepared and presented. Entry Level they are not.

We understand that not every player has the budget for markers at that level. New or recreational players within the sport may not see the benefit in such fully featured products, but why should those players be precluded from receiving exceptional value and quality? We believe that they shouldn’t be.

That was our philosophy when we set out to design our latest paintball marker. One that retains the core elements of all Planet Eclipse markers but comes wrapped in a more affordable package, allowing more players to enjoy the ‘Eclipse Ownership Experience’

The challenge was on and we are proud to share with you …

No matter at what price-point you purchase your paintball marker we believe that there are some fundamental features that every customer should demand.

Quality. Reliability. Service.

At Eclipse we have endeavoured to build these features into every marker we have ever produced. Even though the Etha sits at a less expensive price point not previously occupied by an Eclipse marker, the all-new Etha is no exception.

Quality ………..The Etha uses the same materials machined to the same tolerances as those found in other Eclipse markers such as Ego, Geo and the Etek. In many cases, such as the regulator internals, they are the exact same parts as those used in those other markers. The philosophy behind the Etha is to reduce costs by simplifying the design of both the internal and external components, and manufacture those components to the same level of accuracy and quality as those found in other Eclipse markers and not to reduce cost by using cheaper materials machined to lower tolerance on less accurate machines.

Of course quality doesn’t stop with the parts that go into the Etha. At every stage of production and assembly the same systems and procedures that are used to test components, sub-assemblies and fully finished units during the manufacture of all other Eclipse markers, are utilized on the Etha production line. During assembly each marker is given its own unique barcode which stays with the marker on its journey through the factory. Once assembled, every Etha is repeatedly tested for leaks on state-of-the-art leak detection equipment before making their way to the testing room. Once in the testing room an Etha has its barcode scanned to initiate a comprehensive computerized test procedure and then has paintballs fired through it on a range and over a chronograph and the velocities noted. All tests are recorded alongside the markers serial number and barcode in our production database enabling us to track each individual marker and results can be accessed at any time in the future. Only once an Etha has passed all tests is it given its final “Passed Test” tag and moved to be packaged.

Though long and laborious, the testing of every single marker by this method  means we can be fully confident that when a customer opens up that case for the first time that the marker should work flawlessly, achieving full velocity and completely leak free.

Reliability ……..Utilizing the philosophy mentioned above, regarding the quality of the manufacturing of the components that go into an Etha, helps us immeasurably in building-in our second goal – reliability. Using proven materials, manufactured using proven methods and finished with proven techniques that we have used for years in the manufacture of our other markers means that we have an incredibly strong platform on which to build. Quality materials, machining and finishing are only part of the equation. The design has to be robust enough to work in all conditions, all of the time, shooting all kinds of paint. From arid desert to frozen wasteland every Eclipse marker is expected to work, without excuse. It should work when you take it from the box the very first time it comes out of the packaging and it should remain that way for as long as possible with just the bare minimum of regular maintenance.

In order to prove the reliability of the design the Etha has undergone intensive field testing. Hundreds of thousands of paintballs have been shot through it during development and testing in order to uncover any flaws or defects in the design before being put into production. This is a critical part of a new product’s development and years of manufacturing markers has shown us time and again that there is just no substitute for getting markers into the hands of players and shooting paint through those markers, lots of paint! Only after months of brutal all-weather testing will the final design get signed off and earmarked for production. But that’s not the end of testing. Moving from prototyping to production creates its own series of challenges. So once a new product is put into production the first batch of markers are pulled from the production line and split between intensive longevity bench testing and a select group of players and teams across the world to carry out final approval. Only after satisfactory feedback from all these different sources will a new design be considered fit to go into full production. At this stage we are confident that we have a marker that will live up to the Eclipse legacy of reliability.

Service ……..Eclipse has always been about a lot more than just what you get in the box. There are the things you can’t really put a price or a value on, such as customer service and support. Eclipse prides itself in having one of the most comprehensive technical support and dealer-backed networks in the industry and that network is there to support you whether you shoot an Ego CSL or an Etha. We invest heavily every year in making sure that the stores and dealers that sell our equipment know how it works and how to fix it and have access to all the spares and accessories needed to maintain and repair our products. These trained technicians can be found in stores all across the globe. We endeavour to have technicians at more events, more tournament series and more big games and scenario events than any other manufacturer out there.

We try to make sure that we are available to help our customers when and where they need us: at events. We understand that players invest a lot time, effort and money in order to attend these events. So we try to ensure that, if the need arises, for whatever reason, we’ve got your back and are there to get you out onto the field having fun and winning games.

Support and customer service shouldn’t only be the preserve of those that play major events. That is why Factory Trained Planet Technicians are never more than a phone call or an email away. Every attempt is made to answer enquiries and queries in the most timely way possible so that any downtime is kept to an absolute minimum and your equipment is always running at its most optimal. For when you simply cannot get hold of someone when you need them, there is always the hugely comprehensive printed manual, tool kit and spare parts bag to help tide you over. Hopefully there is little else you should ever need.

Inside Etha……….But what of the Etha itself? Well, internally the Etha is a radical departure from anything seen before in an Eclipse marker. For the first time we utilize a spring return bolt system in the firing mechanism, allowing us to simplify the pneumatic side of the marker and use a Pull Poppet spool to release air from the firing chamber.

The Etha bolt features dual-stage acceleration so that it picks up the paintball at a lower speed before accelerating further to push the ball fully into the barrel. The front of the bolt has a ramped rubber section. This extended rubber piece is both removable and replaceable and designed to flex freely in order to prevent clipping of the second ball in the stack as well as to be flexible on the face to cushion the paintball as its pushed toward the barrel. Both of these features work hand-in-hand with the Deftek Feed System and Break Beam Sensor System to keep any occurrences of barrel breaks to an absolute minimum.

The Pull Poppet that releases the air from the firing chamber is driven by a new, super-robust high pressure solenoid that is controlled by the fully adjustable PCB. The PCB controls the firing mode (semi-automatic and ramping), rate of fire, dwell and de-bounce through the multi-colour LED mounted in the rear of the frame. It is pre-programmed with modes compatible with all major tournament series meaning no upgrade needed wherever you play.

The frame, together with the lever operated clamping feed-tube, eye covers and the new OOPS knob are all manufactured from extremely resilient glass reinforced nylon. The Etek3 LT has proven to us just what this amazing composite is capable of: it is extremely strong, very tough, and more than capable of handling the abuse that even the roughest and toughest paintballer can throw at it. When it came time to specify the materials for Etha there was no question that this material would be at the top of our list for these parts.

Inside the frame there are sintered brass bushings for the trigger pin to pivot on and a captured, fully adjustable leaf spring similar to that found in the Ego11. These components combine with the externally adjustable trigger to produce a crisp, smooth trigger action with which to operate the micro switch. And for the first time in an Eclipse marker the trigger can be fully removed for maintenance or cleaning without having to separate the frame from the body – it makes cleaning up after a hit to the frame a breeze. To help keep paint and debris out of the inside of the frame, the grip panels are sunk into the frame around their perimeter, they also use a clever upper locating tab that means that each grip panel only requires one screw to fix it in place making access to the board and battery quick and easy.

On the bottom of the frame there is a brand new OOPS (On/Off Purge System) ASA with front exit porting and the same internals that are found in the POPS ASA. It actuates with the twist of a knob and fully vents the entire marker when turned off. It mounts to the frame via the robust T-Slot system.

The OOPS feeds through a macro-line and up to an SL3 regulator. The SL3 reg was first seen on the  SLS and has since made its way onto the Geo2 and the Ego11 as well as the CSL where it has been very well received. With the ability to run HP, MP or LP compressed air tanks without adjustment it makes it a truly versatile regulator. And with its replaceable and reversible main seal it is robust, reliable and easy to service too. Like all other Eclipse markers, the Etha is designed to run solely on compressed air and not CO2.

The barrel also shares some similarities with those found on its bigger brothers. The Etha barrel is a 14.5 inch, two-piece, precision honed, 0.693 bore barrel that has a ‘Cocker’ thread into the gun body and uses the same threading as the Shaft4 barrel to join the front section to rear section. This means it has the longer control bore as well as being compatible with all other Shaft4 barrel accessories such as the Boost Kit and 16″ tip. With such a good standard barrel there should be no reason to run out and spend money on an aftermarket system.

And like all other Eclipse markers, the Etha comes delivered in a hard case, lined with shock absorbing foam and packed with everything you need to look after and maintain it: a full colour manual; a full set of hex keys; a tube of Eclipse Grease; a comprehensive marker and regulator spares kit; and a barrel safety device.

The Future………So that is what goes into the Etha today. What about tomorrow? With paintball moving into ever expanding markets it makes sense to make provision for future developments. The Etha has been designed and constructed with a modular approach in mind and incorporates mounting points around the body for the addition of accessories and upgrades to be bolted directly to the marker. It should make for economical expansion of the Etha for those looking to build upon this exciting new platform.

New Planet Eclipse Ego 11 CLS Marker

Planet Eclipse CLS Ego 11

ECLIPSE CSL EGO
“Enriched with Carbon and Gold, the CSL is both striking and beautiful. From the seamless flow of the barrel and frame to the intricate detail and craftsmanship of the body. The new CSL is the epitome of class and performance with a distinctive pedigree and history that is only found in the SL mark”…
The CSL is all about the detail. Gold screws clamp the gold-detailed grips onto the new flush fitting and screwless frame. Gold Thumbwheel and Screw on the silky smooth, bushed and re-designed C-Lever Clamping Feed. Gold LPR Torpedo and Bolt Pin. The bespoke CSL POPS system with coded gold latch pin. All co-ordinated with that lustrous carbon fibre and gold threaded weave in the all-new SL Shaft 4 Barrel Tip.  The SL has always offered something a bit special. A bit “extra”, if you like. And this year is no exception.
The gold accenting lifts the general appearance of the CSL into another league. All of the stainless steel parts that could be colour-coded have been, also the grip badge and body badge carry a gold chrome finish in place of the silver chrome found on the standard Ego11.

But of course it is the new SL Shaft4 Barrel that takes the limelight. The gloss finished Carbon Fibre 14.5” and 16” tips contains a delicate gold weave, a polished gold collar, and ample porting. The backs have been stepped down a size in their range (now 0.681”, 0.685” and 0.689” bores) in order to better suit the current paint sizes around the globe. The threading and rear section use the same geometry as the Shaft4 Barrel with its increased control bore length, offering higher average velocity and improved consistency over the older Shaft SL barrels. Of course the internal bore is precision honed, as you would expect.

In order to make the most of the stunning detailing all of the CSL the colours for this year have been designed to complement the gold theme, picking up the colour in their accented parts, but each with their own unique combination of base and contrasting elements.

Mechanically the CSL is driven using the same solenoid with integrated Flow Control Devices as can be found on the Ego11. The Ego11 has altered perceptions on what is possible both in terms of adjustability and outright smoothness from a poppet platform. And the CSL is no different with the adjustable solenoid making it possible to dial in the marker for supreme spool valve rivalling smoothness or outright firepower at the twist of a control.

But in other areas around the marker it’s easy to spot where those improvements that you expect to see in an SL have been made. For example the F-F or Flush Fitting Frame. Take a look and you will see that there are no longer any unsightly screw heads at the rear of the frame or inside the trigger guard. Instead, the frame is attached using a single captured free-spinning screw at the rear, and on a discrete and hidden cam-hinge at the front. The result is quicker and easier disassembly, smoother lines and improved ergonomics.

The CSL will be shipping with the excellent Cure3+ bolt. But currently in the final stages of development we have an all-new Cure4 Bolt System. Developed with the intention to reduced stack clipping and bolt strike (where the paintball is damaged by the bolt accelerating forward and striking the stationary paintball) the new bolt includes a removable and replaceable cushioned tip. The tip is locked into position by the contoured bolt insert that is in turn held in place by the bolt pin. Complete disassembly requires no tools whatsoever. The Cure4 bolt will be made available free of charge to all CSL owners who register their marker (see inside CSL box for details).

Continuing the long tradition of the SL range, the CSL offers a multitude of options to the owner. Electronically there is the same option of Opto or Micro trigger actuation on the board, as well as magnetic and/or spring return on the trigger. The CSL also offers the option of both a High and Low Pressure exhaust valve system which allows you tailor the efficiency and feel even further. The HP valve guide gives increased efficiency while the LP guide delivers a more gentle blast of air to the back of the ball. There is also the inclusion of the standard Ego-shaped “S” style, as well as a brand new retro “Blade”-shaped, trigger. The options included as standard with every CSL mean that there should be a set-up to suit every taste without ever the need to purchase potentially flawed aftermarket parts.

And of course these days the options do not just stop at the hardware. Every CSL comes complete with a full E-Portal system, including software and link cables meaning that everything from the start-up splash screen to the software version can be adjusted and uploaded from a PC.

As you can see, there is little that has been left untouched on the New CSL. And after all, The devil is in the detail, as they say…

NJ Jesters D3 Team take 3rd Place at Top Gun EPPL

Posted on December 9, 2010

On November 28th we attended the premier event of the ECPPL at Top Gun. It was a blast, the day was cold as hell which made the paint situation terrible but other than that things ran pretty smoothly. We made it into the top four where we met Obnoxious who was playing some great ball, we were ready to avenge our prelims loss. Unfortunatley it wasn’t to be as we received 4 penalties in the game. Hats off to them they played some great ball, it was unfortunate that we didn’t get to play a straight up game though. So we got relegated to play for third against FACK who was also playing some great ball. Conor and Jordan being our senior members came out super pissed this game and played like demons. But I have to give special credit to Canadian Ryan who played nasty all day. In the last overtime point in which it was a 2v2, and both teams had the same positions, he singlehandedly shot the last two players winning us Third place. I’d like to personally thank everybody that showed up who wasn’t playing just to support. We had more staff than players, and that’s what it’s all about, sticking together and giving it all for the good of the team no matter what your role is that day. Great work to everybody, I l know we’re only truly content with first but it was a great effort, especially with the ridiculous amount of penalties and paint issues. Keep up the hard work, as GW says it’s time to DOMINATE.

Ego 11 Technical Specification Following the trends in paintball and being able to react and respond to them in a way that benefits the player in a positive way is a difficult thing to achieve. Being able to provide a product that is all things to all men is even harder. Planet Eclipse have always prided itself on being able to react quickly, give the customer what they want, when they want it, and to give users the flexibility to have their marker just how they like it. This philosophy has never been more evident than it is in the New Ego11. Over the past 18 months you will have seen Planet Eclipse taking steps to help improve the “feel” of the marker during play, as well as to improve the ability of the markers to handle super brittle tournament paint. Controlling the speed of the bolt in any marker is the key to achieving improved feel, reduced sound signature, and more gentle handling of the paintball within the marker. The more gentle the acceleration and deceleration of the system, the smoother the marker feels. But of course doing so does have its drawbacks. For example by slowing the cyclic speed of the marker, you also reduce the rate of fire. As with many things in life there is a trade off. As we look to improve the feel of the marker on one hand, we inhibit it in terms of outright speed on the other. But what if you want your Ego to shoot fast like Egos used to shoot? If the marker is tuned for smoothness, how do you get the speed? What if you want to shoot 15bps but want it smooth? What if you only care about shooting 12bps because that’s all you can use with PSP rules but want it to be as smooth as possible? How can you cave all these things in one solitary marker? Well until now, it just wasn’t possible without making major, time-consuming physical changes to the pneumatic system of the marker, or even re-machining parts to allow different dynamic characteristics of a marker. But not now. Not any more. The Ego11 comes equipped with an industry first. A bespoke solenoid manufactured by MAC Valves USA that incorporates twin flow control devices. Etched into the side of the solenoid body is easy to make out the two incremented scales. Below the scales are two one-quarter turn Solenoid Flow Controls. These Solenoid Flow Controls, fitted with pointer and limit stops, can now be used to independently control both the forward and rearward speed of the Rammer. For the first time ever in a poppet marker the user can now tune the speed, feel and rate of fire of their own marker with a simple twist of an adjuster. In the time it takes you to turn off your tourney lock, the Ego11 can be switched from a high speed, max ROF, uncapped, free-for-all machine, into the softest, gentlest, smoothest shooting capped PSP poppet you have ever felt. Or how absolutely anything in between?! The analogue adjustment means infinite control of the speed of the bolt and rammer in either direction giving unprecedented influence over the dynamic characteristics of each marker. It looks like you really can have your cake and eat it with the Ego11. But the solenoid is not the only place that has a complete overhaul. Take a look around the grip frame and there are several things that should jump out. Like the new POPS ASA. POPS stands for Push On Purge System and is a completely new concept in On/Off/Purging ASAs. The idea is simple. Just push back on the front “Bonnet” section of the POPS and this depresses the pin in your tank, gasses up the marker, and then latched itself into place. Gassing up the marker takes a fraction of a second. Once gassed up the bonnet stays in position until the pushbutton on the side of the POPS bonnet is depressed, at which point the bonnet pops forward and the marker purges its air. Again, de-gassing takes a fraction of a second and very little effort. The new POPS also features, of course, T-Slot mounting to the frame, but this time with longer adjustment range than the previous Eclipse ASAs. It also hosts front porting for the first time on an Eclipse ASA, as well as new fittings that require Loctite or tape to seal in and can be removed quickly and easily with a hex key. The new fitting takes air via the shortened macroline hose into a new angled swivel on the exceptional SL3 regulator which also comes with one of the new fittings. The SL3 regulator should need little introduction at this point. It was first seen on the SLS from last season and then went on to appear on the Geo2. The SL3 reg retains all of the simplicity of the old Eclipse regulators, but also throws in a load of new features and even better performance. Notably the regulator has a new seal system that means the regulator seal can now be flipped or replaced if required, and is more durable to start with. No piston replacement needed with this new design. The regulator also performs far superiorly across a very wide range of input pressures. You can run HP or LP tank, flipping between the 2 without any effect on marker velocity. The benefit of this added stability is even more evident when it comes down to the game, where you can shoot the Ego11 at full velocity right down to the last 200-300psi in the tank. You can really squeeze every last bit of performance out of your system. Those who are observant may also notice a new spacing between the SL3 reg and the grip frame. The inclusion of the new solenoid has given the Ego11 the opportunity to spread its stance a little. The frame has been moved backwards allowing more room between the front regulator and the trigger guard. Just enough to add some additional support and control to the marker, but not enough to forsake the compact dimensions and sharp handling that Ego users have become so accustomed to. The Ego11 has some other quite interesting changes to the ergonomics of the frame. The new frame profile along with, yet again, a higher grip position combine with an all-new grip that is actually sunk into the frame around most of its perimeter. These in turn with a brand new co-molded console that runs all the way up the back of the frame to add comfort and grip. Slimmer in the middle section of the grips, and with grippy rubber running down the back of the frame, the look and feel of the Ego11 is still fresh. Simple mechanical changes ensure that the grip screws clamp down firmly into place without the chance of crushing the grips or, more importantly, some delicate internal component. Of course inside the frame there still lies the ubiquitous Eclipse circuit board, fitted with extra large tru-color backlit LCD module, sounding device, triple external pushbuttons, micro and opto sensing triggers, 16-bit processor and expansion port that allows connection to PC with the optional E-Portal2 kit. With all the adjustability and functionality you could ever need, the range of adjustment on the Ego11 is simply breathtaking. Refill counters, ROF indicators, timers, audible beeper, debounce presets, RF enabled, you name it, the Ego11 board will do it or support it. And when combined with the new direct acting solenoid, the prioritized drive circuitry will ensure that shot-to-shot consistency and rate of fire accuracy are the very best they can be. Also inside the frame, and in charge of actuating the micro and opto switches on the board, is a new trigger, with new bearing carrier, and new spring system. The trigger has 5 points of adjustment. Forward travel, rearward travel, magnetic return strength, spring return strength and finally micro-switch actuation point. Designed in the ever-popular S-style, the trigger has the smooth, slop-free action that has been the backbone of Eclipse markers for years. It’s wide range of adjustability and option of magnetic or spring return make it quick and easy to set up to any individuals liking without the need break the gun apart to get at adjusters. As with everything in an Eclipse marker, simplicity is key. Internally the Ego11 boasts the Zick2 kit, the Cure3 bolt, the same adjustable LPR found on SLs as well as the LP protection vent that was found in the Ego10. All highly proven, tournament winning components. And up front, you’ll find the new Shaft4 barrel in 14”, 0.689” bore configuration that has been receiving outstanding reviews since its launch on the Geo2 earlier this year. Re-designed for better efficiency and consistency, and ported for reduced sound signature, there really is no need to replace exceptional, stiff arbour honed, premium barrel. Finally, the Ego11 comes packaged in a new zippered case, which includes in its contents a full hex key set, oil, barrel sock, full-color 84-page manual, and a comprehensive spares kit that includes regulator components, o-rings, detents, springs and screws. The Ego11 has been developed and created with the soul intention of giving the modern player the things they most desire in a modern paintball marker. A smoother shot. A quieter sound signature. Eclipse Geo2 Technical Specification It has been over 18 months since the release of the original Geo. In that time the popularity of the marker has been growing in leaps and bounds. With the arrival of upgrades such as the GR-2 Kit and more recently the GST kit, the Geo has developed and matured into a class act, and as such has been picked up and used by an ever increasing number of players. This year sees a near 50/50 spilt between Ego and Geo usage amongst our Pro and Semi-Pro teams. That in its self should be endorsement enough. But, as with anything in life, we believe there is still room for improvement. Both in terms of ergonomics, features, and performance; the Geo2 will further define what is possible from the Geo platform. Taking the knowledge acquired and the feedback gleaned since the launch of Geo, the Geo2 has been modified in virtually every area. From efficiency, to balance, to electronics and regulation, the Geo has been improved, and in key areas such as the ability to shoot the most fragile paint possible, the Geo2 simply excels…… Key Features: 1. Gen2 Propshaft Assembly – The Geo2 comes with a completely new Propshaft Assembly. The design introduces a spring-loaded Drive Core. This Drive Core prevents air loss both on the firing stroke of the bolt, leaving residual, previously wasted air trapped in the valve chamber, as well as ensuring the valve chamber is fully sealed prior to re-filling on the return stroke of the bolt. This results in better efficiency and faster recharge of the valve chamber. The New Finned Propshaft Tip helps keep the propshaft and bolt concentric at all times. 2. SL3 In-Line Regulator – The SL3 regulator is more accurate, more consistent, with less creep and faster recharge than any previous Eclipse Regulator. On top of that it will allow the Geo2 to operate with LP, MP or HP tanks with no fluctuation in performance or velocity. Switch from HP tank to LP tank without needing to adjust the regulator. The New design means that the Geo2 will shoot down to the last 200psi of tank pressure with next-to-zero loss in velocity. The new SL3 regulator also has reversible and replaceable reg seal. 3. Shaft4 Barrel – The Shaft4 has been developed specifically to improve efficiency and consistency. By manipulating the length and bore of the rear control bore section the new barrel gives higher velocities than older Shaft barrels for the same settings. This leads to an improvement in efficiency and consistency as well as reducing the sound signature of the marker. 4. Geo2 GST Bolt Assembly – After the phenomenal success of the GST kit for the Geo, the Geo2 receives the same treatment as standard. GST Can and GST Geo2 bolt now work in conjunction with the new sprung Drive Core to further reduce recoil and sound signature, making the Geo2 supremely smooth and quiet. 5. 2010 Circuit Board – New Circuit Board has 92% larger LCD screen with adjustable backlight colour. Optimised solenoid drive circuitry offering increased accuracy of Dwell and ROF control. 16-bit, 16mips PIC microprocessor. Micro and Opto trigger sensing. New GUI (Graphical User Interface). 6. E-Portal Connectivity – Capable of connecting the Geo2 to a PC giving the ability to upload Firmware, make Splash Screens and remotely adjust parameters. (Requires Optional USB Adaptor, Software and Cable) 7. Wider Frame-to-Reg Spacing – An increase in the stance of the Geo2 changes the basic feel of the marker and allows higher rear hand placement. New 2010 bearing carrier also allows higher trigger placement to match the higher rear hand position resulting in a more instinctive and pointy feel to the marker. Of course these are just some of the headline changes to the Geo2. On top of these there are the dominant Geo features that have been brought through to the latest creation, such as the ISCIS valve system, low dynamic seal count, Cure bolt technology, Deftek feed, Break-Beam Sensor System, OOPS ASA, Clamping feed, tool-less maintenance as well as access to the Planet Eclipse Technical and Customer Support network making teching a breeze. The primary changes combined with the core Geo and Planet Eclipse values take the Geo2 to the next level. To make it one of the smoothest, quietest, efficient, well balanced, lightest, reliable spool valve markers on sale today, and to nail it firmly into upper echelons of high-end paintball equipment.

Planet Eclipse Ego SLS

posted on February 19, 2010

planet-eclipse-sls-gliver1planet-eclipse-sls-polar1 planet-eclipse-sls-swamp1planet-eclipse-sls-thistle3  The new SLS Ego price is $1795.00 and it is definitly worth every penny for this customized, pimp out Ego. With the Ego10 launched late 2009 and claimed by many to be the best Ego to date, and by some margin, it would seem faintly ridiculous to presume that the new SL could improve on the platform any further. But with application and direction the team responsible for the development of the Eclipse line of markers have managed to come up with a package that pushes the development of the Ego line ever forward. Every previous SL has been distinguishable by its blend of swooping exterior lines and light-weight design. There is no exception here. Yes, the SLS may have eschewed some of its classic nose-to-tail features and replaced them with individual body strakes, but the concept of a cohesive design theme through the marker remain. As of course does the diminutive size and weight. At only 834g with barrel, battery and OOPS, the SLS retains its position as the lightest high-end marker available for sale. But of course the SL has always been about more than just looks and weight. The SL is also used to showcase new and exciting technology from the Eclipse development team. And this year is no different. The SLS has seen enhancements in three key areas: - A new SL3 In-Line Regulator and Regulator mount - Modification of the Cure3+ with inclusion of three different Bolt Inserts - The introduction of full SLS-to-PC communications The latter of those upgrades is made possible through proprietary software in the form of the E-Portal. The E-Portal is an application that provides a means of communicating with an Eclipse SLS through the familiar Windows(tm) environment and will give the user control over all aspects of the SLS firmware. It will be possible to: - Upgrade the Electronic Firmware From time to time Eclipse will release new versions of the firmware that controls the operation of the Eclipse SLS. This may be to add new features to the current firmware; to improve existing features; to fix bugs in the current firmware; or to accommodate changes in major league rules affecting the way that markers are allowed to operate. The latest version of firmware will be downloadable from the Planet Eclipse website and programmable into the SLS using E-Portal. - Manage the Control Parameters E-Portal will display all of the SLS' Control Parameters in one easy-to-read list. Parameters can be read from the SLS, modified and saved for future use. User presets can also be created for different firing mode configurations and saved for future use. - Customise the Start-Up Splash Screen E-Portal provides a simple way to create images that can be transferred to the Eclipse SLS in order to personalise the start-up screen. These images can be saved for future use or shared with friends and team-mates. Sample images are also available for download from the Planet Eclipse website. Where the E-Portal offers enhanced control of the electronics, the new SL3 Regulator gives enhanced control of the pneumatics. The SL3 regulator is a completely new, from the ground up, design of In-Line regulator for Eclipse. Eclipse regulators have always been renowned for their reliability, simplicity and robustness. The SL3 obviously has all of those attributes, but now is even more accurate, has better stability when dealing with fluctuating or decaying input pressure, and has a higher flow capability. Not only that, the all-new seal configuration is now both reversible and replaceable by the user, should the main seal ever become contaminated. All of these features mean that the output of the regulator (the pressure that governs the markers velocity) is now even more tightly controlled over a far wider range of supply pressures from the tank. This means velocity remains stable right down to the last few hundred psi on the tank, giving you more usable shots per fill. And as promised with the advent of the Cure3+ the new SLS Cure3+ comes complete with three interchangeable bolt inserts. Stock, it comes fitted with the ramped gas transfer option similar to the one seen in the Ego10. And inside the box, together with the optional trigger, optional Valve Guide and other spares, there are two further bolt inserts: A Muffler design, and a Pepper Pot design. A simple pull and twist of the bolt pin allow access to the bolt insert. Simply fit the one that suits your play the best, then pop the pin back in and get back to the field. It couldn’t be more simple. Of course the rest of the SLS is no less feature laden, with the Zick2 Rammer kit, adjustable OOPS fitted to the T-Railed SL frame, choice of two triggers and two valve guides, adjustable LPR; custom MAC solenoid valve with modified porting and of course the 5-Piece Shaft SL2 barrel kit. As well as the VERY limited run of about 300 SLS (Maximum will be no more than 350) there will also be an exclusive PBNation Owners Badge that you will be able to tag to your user account (Original Owner ONLY)… So you prove your right to be part of the Elite SLS Club.. The New Eclipse SLS. Is there really anything else you could ever need? Empire Paintball has created a Special Edition version of our E-Vent goggle that looks like no other in paintball. We call this design Ink, since we essentially tattooed our current goggle to give it attitude and style. Just like a tattoo, these all-white goggles are a work of art because each one is slightly different from any other. The Empire® E-Vents™ Goggle System is a low profile goggle system designed to present a minimum target. Made of a soft and flexible dual-density material for comfort, the streamlined design keeps you in the game by deflecting glancing paintballs.

The vents are shaped to move exhaled breath through the vents and out the side of the mask. This vent design, along with internal side baffles, prevents warm moist air from crossing the lens to prevent fogging. The soft ear design flexes to accommodate your ear position comfortably and does not compromise hearing.

  • Special Edition Ink color pattern
  • Sleek, low profile shape
  • Excellent ventilation and voice projection
  • Optically correct lens for zero sight distortion
  • Quick release lens system
  • Removable soft ear pieces
  • Silicone impregnated adjustable strap to keep the goggle secure
  • Includes visor and brow shield
